There is a vacancy on the Sheffield-Sheffield Lake Board of Education due to the recent resignation of Mr. Skip Scarpelli, and the remaining board members have 30 days to fill it.
Board President Sheila Lopez said Scarpelli, who was in his second term resigned effective May 15th. The board must begin the process to replace Scarpelli soon and name the replacement within 30 days. The newly appointed board member will serve for the rest of the 2013 calendar year and be subject to the election process in November of 2013.
Citizens interested in being considered for appointment to the Sheffield-Sheffield Lake Board of Education should submit a letter of interest at the Administrative Center, 1824 Harris Road, Sheffield Village, Ohio 44054 or by email to slopez@sheffield.k12.oh.us. Deadline for letters and/or emails is Friday, May 31st.
According to the Ohio School Boards Association, people serving on school boards in Ohio must be district residents and registered voters. If they wish to continue serving on the school board, they will stand for election at the next general election.
Ms. Lopez said the board will review all applications and decide on a replacement by its June 10th Board of Education meeting.
