Board of Education Vacancy

There is a vacancy on the Sheffield-Sheffield Lake Board of Education due to the recent resignation of Mr. Skip Scarpelli, and the remaining board members have 30 days to fill it.

Board President Sheila Lopez said Scarpelli, who was in his second term resigned effective May 15th.  The board must begin the process to replace Scarpelli soon and name the replacement within 30 days.  The newly appointed board member will serve for the rest of the 2013 calendar year and be subject to the election process in November of 2013.

Citizens interested in being considered for appointment to the Sheffield-Sheffield Lake Board of Education should submit a letter of interest at the Administrative Center, 1824 Harris Road, Sheffield Village, Ohio  44054 or by email to slopez@sheffield.k12.oh.us.  Deadline for letters and/or emails is Friday, May 31st.

According to the Ohio School Boards Association, people serving on school boards in Ohio must be district residents and registered voters.  If they wish to continue serving on the school board, they will stand for election at the next general election.

Tom Camp Signs Letter of Intent
Brookside HS is proud to announce that Tom Camp, Senior Football player, has decided to continue his academic and athletic career at the College of Wooster, in Wooster, Ohio.  Tom is a 2 year letterman, who played offensive line and defensive LB.  He is an outstanding student/athlete who carries a 3.76 GPA and is currently 20th in a class of 138.  Congratulations to Tom. 
William Barr Student is "Best in Show"

On May 14, 2013, Jalene Joeright, a fourth grader at William Barr Elementary School received the “Best in Show Writer’s Award” at the 2013 Young Author’s Conference held at the Spitzer Center at L.C.C.C. The “Writer’s Award’ recognizes the best young author in each of grades 3-6. Her book titled, “Dyslexic” was chosen from a group of 4th grade finalists in Lorain County. Congratulations to Jalene as well as all of the participants in the 2013 “Young Authors Conference”.

New Construction Website
Please visit our new school construction website at www.ournewschool.info.  We will maintain this website throughout the construction process and share information and photos along the way.  You can see "Live Views" of the construction site with new photos being uploaded every 15 minutes and time-lapse videos will be coming this summer.  You can also see architect's renderings of the new building along with informative videos by Mr. Cook.  We hope you enjoy the website! 
A "Groundbreaking Event"
Local and statewide dignitaries take part in the groundbreaking ceremony for the new 7-12 building.  A great turnout by the community along with inspiring words from school and elected officials made for a successful event.   
Sheffield Mobile App Now Available!
We have recently launched our new mobile app for those that wish to view our website on their smart phone.  Just visit www.sheffield.k12.oh.us on your smart phone and you will automatically be redirected to the mobile version of our website.  
Kindergarten and Pre-School Registration
Kindergarten and Preschool Registration will be held on April 17th and 18th from 9am - 11am and 1pm - 3pm on both days. In addition we will have an evening time from 6pm - 8pm on the 18th only. Please be sure to bring your child's, Birth Certificate, Shot records, Social Security Card, Two proofs of residency, (two utility bills with your name and address on it), and custody papers if the apply.
 
Preschool is tuition based. It is $1500.00 for the year so you will need to bring $150.00 with you to go towards the first payment. Tuition will be due the first of every month, second payment starting September 1st. It is first come first served and the spots fill up quick so you might want to come on the first day.
 
We also offer an all day kindergarten class that is also tuition based. Tuition is $2000.00 for the year, $200.00 due at registration and the second payment starting September 1st. If your child qualifies for free or reduced lunches, tuition will be a reduced rate.
