Senior Exploration Day is October 11, 2017

All Brookside High School seniors will have the opportunity to have a day of SENIOR EXPLORATION.   Students can use this day to complete one of the following activities:
1. Job Shadowing: Minimum of 4 hours: Students are encouraged to shadow a person in a field that they are interested in exploring. Students need to arrange to follow this person for their work day. There is a required form that will need to be returned, signed by the job site
representative.

2. Community Service: Minimum of 4 Hours: Students can participate in a
community service activity during this day. All seniors are required to complete 10 hours of community service for their Democracy in Action class. Students can use this time to work towards the 10 hours for the class requirement or they can also work on the 50 hours of community service needed for the Diploma of Distinction. ****Community service needs to be arranged in advance at an approved non-profit or social service agency****.  This cannot be at a job site or at a neighbor or relatives house. Forms will need to be returned documenting the service hours.

3. Post Secondary Institution Visit: Students are encouraged to use this day to visit a college, university, or technical school. Students need to schedule this visit with the college admissions department in advance. Upon returning, students will need to provide proof of attendance from the college/university/tech school.  Current LCCC PSEO students MAY NOT use LCCC as the institution to visit.

4. Regular attendance at Brookside: Students will use this day to work in Naviance and on the Ohio Means Jobs website. They will spend the day exploring careers and post secondary options on the computer. There will be NO regular classes scheduled on this day. LCCC PSEO students will attend BHS as usual if not participating on one of the above options.

Students who do not complete one of the above options will be TRUANT
and will face disciplinary consequences.
Students who are sick must have a note and parent must call the school
for the absence to be excused.

If you have any questions or concerns please contact the Brookside High School Guidance Department, 440-949-4223.
