Hello my name is Samantha Kiessling, and I am a school social work intern for Sheffield-Sheffield Lake City Schools. I am currently enrolled at Cleveland State University, pursuing a Masters degree in Social Work. I received my Bachelor of Arts undergraduate degree from Cleveland State University with a major in Psychology in 2017. Prior to starting my graduate degree, I worked at a substance abuse facility called Glenbeigh Hospital: Outpatient Center of Rocky River. I have almost 2 years of experience working with the administration team as well as the clients. Although I did not work directly with the clients (performing assessments, group therapy.. etc), I met with them and introduced them to our facility. I educated them on further substance abuse treatment, and explained what types of services we provided.
Social work has always been an interest of mine since I was younger. I find it alluring the way social work can be such an amazing aid for families and individuals. I have enjoyed learning how and why the brain works. I have taken many developmental, psychological and social behavioral courses that have helped me gain extensive knowledge that strongly supports my understanding of social work practice. I am eager to learn more about school social work and how I can assist at my highest potential. I enjoy the company of children and I would love to be a positive role model or support system in their life if possible. I will help advocate and support students through any possible distress they may encounter. I am here to benefit the well-being of all students and encourage them in good decision making, behavior, and attitude. I am delighted to be working with the staff and students of Sheffield-Sheffield Lake City Schools. If you have any questions or comments, please do not hesitate to contact me.
